HOW DOES REGISTERING FOR TOURNAMENTS WORK?

1. We obtain a list of all of the tournaments in North Dakota in our area.  

2. We look at their Tournament Date, Preregistration Date,  Registration Date,  Closing Date, and Drop Date.

• • • Tournament Date = the date(s) the tournament is held

    • Preregistration Date = the date that coaches enter archer information online

    • Registration Date = the date that we are able to sign up for the tournament.  The information should be set, so we only have to hit Enter.

    • Closing Date = the date where we are no longer able to add any new archers or make any changes to the tournament and times

    • Drop Date = the final date to remove archer from the tournament without having to pay. After the drop date, archer will have to pay whether they shoot or not

      • We will try to include these important dates for each tournament.  If we forget, the information is online at all times.

3. Why do we want everyone to Preregister?

• By doing so, we can add all of information, our archers, and their preferred times before the Registration Date.

4.  How long does Registration last?

• Registration will be open for approximately 2 weeks before a tournament; however, they book instantly.

• Tournaments have been completely booked by the time we've hit enter.  All coaches who handle registrations from North Dakota are sitting at their computers and watching a countdown, literally.  

Example: We have 8 archers signed up at the 8:00 am preferred time slot and 12 signed up at the 1:00 pm slot.  When we hit the enter button on our computer, quite possibly, at the same time as many other coaches, this could be the outcome.

1. All of our archers get in at their preferred times.

2. Our 8 archers get in at 8:00 am, but only 9 of our archers get in at 1:00 pm as that time slot has filled up. 

a. It is then, that we quickly go back in and try our hardest to the archer as close to their preferred time.  

3. None of our archers make it in.  

b. THIS HAS HAPPENED!  For instance, the Wahpeton Tournament has booked full in 15 seconds before. 

Many other team coaches are great to work with and we've been able to email to get our archers in. Sometimes, there is nothing they can do on their end as they are at capacity.

FUN FACT TIME! NOT THAT MUCH FUN THOUGH!

The NASP site for tournament registrations (only what coaches can see) is ALL listed in EASTERN time.  That means that when we are going about our busy lives, we have to remember this little fact!  There have been some tournaments that registration opened at midnight, some at 5:00 am, and most at 8:00 am.  Then we must remember to subtract an hour and set alarms accordingly.  Trust me when I say we are trying our hardest.
